Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care

This nationally recognised qualification is offered to up-skill or re-skill employees working as school aged education and care workers.
It gives the opportunity for growth in confidence and competence while working in an education setting.

The qualification is offered to a wide range of workers including:

  • Out of School Hours Assistant
  • Vacation Care Assistant
  • Mobile Carer
  • Nanny

On completion you will have a greater understanding of:

  • Working with diversity and effectively in the education and care environment
  • Communicating with and supporting behaviour of children.
  • Developmental stages of children.
  • Complying with education and care centres administrative requirements
  • Complying with legislative, policy and industrial requirements
  • WHS Process
  • The skills and knowledge gained will be relevant to the education and care setting in which you are working.

If you are not currently employed in an education and care environment you will be required to volunteer for a minimum of two days equivalent a week for the duration of the course.

Course Delivery
Training is offered over a 12 month period, consisting of fortnightly midday workshop sessions from 10:00am to 12:30pm.

Fees
This course is currently subsided by the Northern Territory Department of Trade, Business and Innovation for residents of the Northern Territory. More information and eligibility criteria can be foundhere.

This course will include a $220 non-refundable administration fee which must be received before course commencement.

The 15 core units and 4 electives must be completed in order to finish the course.

CHCPRT001 – Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
CHCSAC001 – Support children to participate in school age care
CHCSAC002 – Develop and implement play and leisure experiences in school age care
CHCSAC003 – Work collaboratively and respectfully with children in school age care
CHCSAC004 – Support the holistic development of children in school age care
HLTAID004 – Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting
HLTWHS001 – Participate in workplace health and safety
