Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

This nationally recognised qualification is offered to up-skill or re-skill employees working as school aged education and care workers.
It gives the opportunity for growth in confidence and competence while working in an education setting.

The qualification is offered to a wide range of workers including:

  • Children’s services coordinator
  • Centre manager (children’s services)
  • Director (children’s services)
  • Child care educator
  • Group/team coordinator/leader (children’s services)
  • Children’s adviser
  • Program leader (children’s services)
  • Children’s service director / manager
  • Child development educator

Are you employed as an Authorised / Nominated Supervisor, Centre manager, Director, Group/team coordinator/leader, program leader, Children’s service coordinator, Children’s adviser, Children’s service director / manager or Child development educator? Do you want to become more effective as you support the education and care of children?
On completion you will have a greater understanding of:

  • Working with diversity and effectively in the education and care environment
  • Communicating with and supporting behaviour of children.
  • Developmental stages of children.
  • Complying with education and care centres’ administrative requirements
  • Complying with legislative, policy and industrial requirements
  • WHS Process
  • The skills and knowledge gained will be relevant to the education and care setting in which you are working.

If you are not currently employed in an education and care environment you will be required to volunteer for a minimum of two days equivalent a week for the duration of the course.

Course Delivery

Training is offered over a 18-month period, consisting of fortnightly eveningworkshop sessions from 6pm to 8pm, and a Saturday session from 8:30am until 3:30pm.

Fees
This course is currently subsided by the Northern Territory Department of Trade, Business and Innovation for residents of the Northern Territory. More information and eligibility criteria can be foundhere.

This course will include a $220 non-refundable administration fee which must be received before course commencement.

The 23 core units and 5 electives must be completed in order to finish the course.
